Nurturing Parenting Program
The Nurturing Program uses group activities and discussions to help parents explore ways to implement positive parenting techniques when raising their toddler, child, and/or teen.
Classes cover a wide range of parenting topics: families explore ways to establish effective methods for addressing problem behaviors; strategies for increasing their child/teen's positive self-image; and ways to promote positive family interactions!
Unlike other parenting programs, the Loudoun County Nurturing Parenting Program is designed so that parents and kids come to the program together! Nurturing programs are designed for:
- Parents, infants and toddlers (birth to five years old)
- Parents and school-aged children (4 to 12 years old)
- Parents and Adolescents (12 to 18 years old)
An integral part of the Loudoun County Nurturing Program is the "family meal." Most sessions a family meal is provided, free of charge. Parents, children, facilitators, and program volunteers share a meal, talk about what they have learned, and enjoy some family fun together.
We all need to be nurtured.
We all need respect, praise, understanding, and healthy limits.
The program and course materials are free. The course objectives work for all kinds of families: two-parent, single-parent, foster, adoptive, and blended or step-families.
ANY FAMILY that wants to have better communication, get along, or just feel closer can benefit from the Nurturing Parenting Program. The program is designed so that all family members—adults, adolescents, and children—learn the same skills, helping to build a stronger, nurturing, family environment.
The Nurturing Parenting Program, a service of Loudoun Citizens for Social Justice/LAWS, is funded through grants from the Virginia Department of Social Services, the United Way of the National Capital Area, and proceeds from the "Night for Loudoun's Children Gala" sponsored by the agency's Board of Directors.
